Thanks! I'm satisfied with the info in the article, I hope it still makes for an interesting narrative.

When looking at Ireland I was surprised to see how little of its rail network is electrified (apart from the suburban DART). But we could think of Cork - Dublin - Ferry to Liverpool - London - Brussels. What do you think?

The usual route is Dublin-Holyhead (Wales)-London but it’s not ideal. Yes, it’s shocking that we’re still using diesel! There are plans to make new trains hybrid, so that at least they are not pumping out air pollution until they leave the city centre. Seems a pity not to go full electric.

Did you spot this piece of news recently about electric trains running with battery? Could be an option considering the Irish network.
